Do not buy this range!, November 12, 2010 This review is from: Maytag MET8775XB We bought this range almost 3 years ago. We thought a double oven would be a good idea but we rarely used both at once. We used the top oven 99% of the time. The bottom oven never heated properly. A month ago the top oven off switch stopped working. I had to shut the breaker off to turn the stove off. So we then started using the bottom oven for the past few weeks. Five days ago the bottom oven broke also. The temperature doesn't heat up past 250. I called Maytag and they "generously " offered to take 25% off any parts!!! A thousand dollar range that never worked as designed and broke down in less than 3 years!!! An appliance dealer told me Maytag was bought out 3 years ago by whirlpool? and the quality has never been the same. I see the same model being sold used at the store, so someone returned one, and a new one on closeout.
I guess paying more doesn't but quality these days. I hate having to buy the extended service agreement but otherwise we can be out $1,000 in... Read more
