It's hard, if not impossible, to find in retail stores, so Amazon to the rescue again. First, the paper is high quality and doesn't bleed through. No more being forced to use a certain pen! Second, the cardboard backing is sturdy enough to take notes easily, even if you don't have a surface to write on. Third, the perforation at the top is a design/engineering miracle -- the pages tear off easily and cleanly, but somehow they never come off by accident. Fourth, there's a cover sheet on the pad, so your notes aren't exposed all the time. My only gripe is that the cover page has come off almost immediately on the last few pads I've bought, but I just tape it back on with clear packing tape. Fifth, the 3-hole punch lets you put your notes, or even the pad itself, in a binder.
