Maybe an alternative to Moleskine?, September 22, 2009 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Tops Designer Notebook, PE Cover, Ruled, 5.5 x 3.5 Inches, Premium Ivory, 96 Sheets (GJ5071) (Office Product) This book is about half the price of a comparable Moleskine product ( Moleskine Small Plain Notebook). The cover is more rigid. It's also marbled which makes it easier to hold on to. The paper is a bit thicker and the quality is good but not quite as good. Everything is stitched together well and it is quite durable.
The thing to watch out for is the color. From the Amazon picture I thought the cover was black or at least something dark. Turns out it's purple. To be helpful I included a snapshot of it on the product page. It wasn't that big a deal for me; it may be for you.
Bottom line: It's an objective decision and if you use small notebooks it might be worth buying one of these to judge the tradeoff for yourself.
